People still have goals and go on to succeed in whatever area matters to them. <BR/><BR/>That they pay a price for this is well understood - but what matters is that people have the choice in the first place.<BR/><BR/>It is often pointed out that people in liberal democracies today are not as "happy" as they would have been in the past.<BR/><BR/>This is due to many things: the stress of modern life, the constant drive to work harder and earn more and buy more. <BR/><BR/>But remember that people still have a choice to become wealthy and prosperous. <BR/><BR/>They simply didn't have that choice say, 300 years ago. <BR/><BR/>So yes, things cost.
